How the invoice is worked out
Each line is quantity × rate. The lines add up to the taxable value. If you are registered, GST at 18% is added on top; if you are not, no GST is charged and the document is titled “Invoice” rather than “Tax Invoice”. The total is rounded to the nearest rupee and the difference is shown as a round-off line.
CGST + SGST or IGST
For services billed to a business, the place of supply is the brand’s registered state. If it is the same as your state, the tax is split in two: 9% CGST and 9% SGST. If the states differ, the whole 18% is IGST. Each 9% is worked out on the taxable value and rounded to the paisa, so CGST and SGST are always equal.
In union territories without their own legislature, SGST is replaced by UTGST at the same rate:Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Ladakh, Lakshadweep. Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir have legislatures, so they charge SGST.
TDS is shown, not subtracted
TDS is worked out on the taxable value, excluding GST, and rounded to the rupee. It is printed in a separate box under the total because the invoice itself must show the full amount; the brand deducts TDS when it pays and deposits it against your PAN. The options here:
- No TDS
- 10% — professional fees (old 194J)
- 1% — contract, individual/HUF (old 194C)
- 2% — contract, others (old 194C)
Since 1 April 2026 these deductions fall under section 393 of the Income-tax Act 2025; brands often still call them by the old section numbers.
When you need GST registration
Registration is required once your aggregate turnover from services crosses ₹20 lakh in a financial year, or ₹10 lakh in the special category states. Below that it is optional. A GSTIN typed here is checked for its format, its check character, its state code and, for your own, that it contains the PAN you entered. Those checks catch typos; they do not confirm the GSTIN is active on the GST portal.
What this is not
This is a regular invoice, not a GST e-invoice. E-invoicing (an IRN and QR code from the invoice registration portal) is only mandatory for large businesses above the notified turnover threshold. Tax rules change, so treat this as a well-formed starting point and check anything unusual with your CA.
GST invoice generator: common questions
Do I need GST registration as an influencer or freelancer in India?
You must register once your aggregate turnover from services crosses ₹20 lakh in a financial year (₹10 lakh in the special category states). Below that, registration is optional. If you are not registered, untick “I’m registered for GST” and the tool makes a plain invoice with no GST on it.
Should I charge CGST + SGST or IGST?
Compare your state with the brand’s state (the place of supply for business-to-business services). Same state: half as CGST and half as SGST. Different states: the whole amount as IGST. On a ₹25,000 fee from Maharashtra to a Maharashtra brand that is CGST ₹2,250 + SGST ₹2,250; to a Karnataka brand it is IGST ₹4,500. The invoice total is ₹29,500 either way.
Is TDS deducted on the GST amount too?
No. TDS is worked out on the taxable value, before GST. On a ₹25,000 fee plus ₹4,500 GST, 10% TDS is ₹2,500, not ₹2,950, so the brand transfers ₹27,000 and deposits ₹2,500 against your PAN.
Should I subtract TDS from my invoice total?
No. The invoice shows the full amount including GST. The brand deducts TDS when it pays you. This tool shows the TDS and the expected transfer in a separate box under the total, so the brand sees what you expect to receive, and you can claim the TDS back against your income tax using Form 26AS or your AIS.
Which TDS rate will a brand deduct from an influencer?
Usually 10% for professional fees (old section 194J), or 1% (individual/HUF) or 2% (others) for contract work (old section 194C). From 1 April 2026 these sit in section 393 of the Income-tax Act 2025. The brand decides which applies, so ask them and pick the same rate here.
What SAC code should influencers use?
This tool fills in 998361 (advertising services) on every line because many creators use it for paid promotions. You can change it on each line. If you are unsure which code fits your work, check with your CA.
Is this a GST e-invoice with an IRN?
No. It is a regular tax invoice. E-invoicing with an IRN and QR code is only mandatory for large businesses above the notified turnover threshold, which most individual creators are well under.
How do I save the invoice as a PDF?
Click “Save as PDF / print”, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. The page prints only the invoice, on A4. Nothing else on the page is included. A short invoice fits one page; a long one continues on a second page, with the table header repeated and the totals kept together.
Is my data saved anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us. If you click “Save to my ledger”, only the invoice number, brand name, amounts and dates are kept in this browser’s local storage, never your bank details, PAN or GSTIN. Clearing your browser data removes them.
